The purpose of the NYSRA is to promote the common good and general welfare of the people of the community and to assist lower income individuals residing in the rural areas of New York State by means of advocacy to secure decent, affordable housing.
Advocacy shall consist of lobbying before the Governor and Legislature of the State of New York, administrative agencies in the State of New York and municipal subdivisions as well as lobbying before the legislature and Administrative Bodies of the Federal Government.
Advocacy shall also consist of the education of lawmakers and those lower income individuals and other persons throughout the state in the advantages to the general welfare of all citizens and particularly lower income citizens of certain laws and regulations to assure the benefits of these citizens specifically in matters affecting decent affordable housing.
Advocacy shall also consist of communication with the low-income community and those who play a role in the community affecting decent, affordable housing.
