The NYS Rural Advocates is an advocacy organization supporting Rural Preservation Companies (RPCs) and the broader community of rural affordable housing and community development practitioners. NYS Rural Advocates is a 501(c)4 “social welfare” organization devoted to advocacy and lobbying state and federal governments to promote affordable housing in small towns and rural places in New York State.
NYS Rural Advocates is supported primarily by its membership. NYS Rural Advocates is controlled by a Board of Directors and is staffed through consulting contracts with experienced rural advocates. The organization’s agenda is developed with input from its and the board of directors establish its annual State and Federal Legislative Agendas.
